DRAQ7 has been used as part of a comprehensive study to look at the temporal nature of apoptosis performed by researchers from Moscow and Boston. DRAQ7 allowed 4-colour image analysis with Hoechst 33342, Caspase 3/7 substrate and TMRE. In the same work DRAQ5 was used in imaging flow cytometry where the DRAQ5 images showed the detail of nuclear fragmentation consistent with apoptosis.
